On my return trip to Botswana, I got involved with Fashion Without Borders (FWB), a fashion & lifestyle movement that looks to showcase and up-lift Africa's young fashion designers and introduce fresh face models. FWB brought out the latest collections from upcoming, emerging and established designers across Africa. It was the place to be if you wanted to mingle with designers and models throughout the continent.
Here's the story...
So, my friend TK from Durban was like... "I'm going to Botswana for this fashion event." Then I was like, "What fashion event?" Then she said it's run by a friend of hers. I did my googles and came up with a few friends who were also connected to the event and reached out. I ended up getting hired to do a couple of afterparties for Fashion Without Borders. Thank you TK!
I hung out with Team Maungo (they make craft jam from local fruits and pair them in really delicious and innovative ways -- my friend Bonolo is one of the founders of the company). Then, I also got the incredible opportunity to crash someone's birthday braai (BBQ) at Mogobane Dam. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Moral of the story: If you get a chance to go to Botswana, do it (and take a friend with you).
Botswana, I love you!
